Timberview Veterinary Hospital recommends that your kitten receive his/her first Feline Distemper combination vaccine between 8 and 9 weeks of age. Kittens require a series of vaccinations due to a temporary immunity provided by his/her mother at birth. Our vaccine recommendations are as follows:
AGE 8-9 Weeks:
Complete health exam
1st Distemper vaccine
Intestinal Parasite Screening (Fecal)
AGE 12 to 14 Weeks:

2nd Distemper vaccine

Intestinal Parasite Screening (Fecal)
AGE 16 Weeks:

3rd Distemper vaccine
2nd Leukemia vaccine

AGE 6 Months:

The Distemper combination vaccine is given in a series every 3 to 4 weeks until at least 4 months of age. The final booster is the most important. Your kitten receives his/her protective immunity against several upper respiratory infections from this final inoculation.
The Leukemia vaccine is recommended for all kittens to protect them from the feline leukemia virus. Two doses of this vaccine are required during kittenhood.
Rabies vaccination is required by law and is usually given around 4 months of age.
*We recommend an intestinal parasite screening at every exam
