Timberview Veterinary Hospital recommends that your kitten receive his/her first Feline Distemper combination vaccine between 6 to 8 weeks of age. Kittens require a series of vaccinations due to a temporary immunity provided by his/her mother at birth. Our vaccine recommendations are as follows:

AGE 6 to 8 Weeks:
Complete health exam
1st Distemper vaccine
Intestinal Parasite Screening (Fecal)

AGE 10 to 14 Weeks:
Complete health exam
2nd Distemper vaccine
1st Leukemia vaccine
Intestinal Parasite Screening (Fecal)

AGE 16 Weeks:
Complete health exam
3rd Distemper vaccine
2nd Leukemia vaccine
Rabies vaccine
Intestinal Parasite Screening (Fecal)

AGE 6 Months:
Neuter or Spay
Option to Microchip
Intestinal Parasite Screening (Fecal)

The Distemper combination vaccine is given in a series every 3 to 4 weeks until 4 months of age. The final booster is the most important. Your kitten receives his/her protective immunity against several upper respiratory infections from this final inoculation.

The Leukemia vaccine is recommended for all kittens to protect them from the feline leukemia virus.

Rabies is required by law and your kitten must be 3 months of age or older to receive the vaccine.

*We recommend an intestinal parasite screening at every exam
